The Kessing Haus Café is a coffeehouse and specialty wood-fired bakery in Oldenburg, Indiana. We are sibling owned & operated and make handmade-from-scratch products, in-house, with all organic or local, responsibly grown ingredients. Everything we use, from the basics of water and salt to the complexities of sugars and flours, is of the finest quality available. Absolutely nothing is sacrificed over quality!

Our homemade specials include sauerkraut, kombucha, scones, cookies, wood-fired artisan breads & bagels, and Italian-inspired coffee drinks.

We have a full, but simple, espresso bar. Our coffee is organic, fair-trade, and roasted in Cincinnati, Ohio by Deeper Roots Coffee, as well as by the Carmelite Monks of Mystic Monk Coffee in Cody, Wyoming. Coffee bar offerings include: espresso, café latte (mocha, vanilla, hazelnut, caramel & amaretto), cappuccino, macchiato, americano, café brevé, regular & decaf house-blend drip coffee, café au lait, and the wide eye - our dark roast drip with a shot of espresso. Additionally, we offer organic & fair-trade teas, homemade hot cocoa, our handmade kombucha, organic apple juice... and other seasonal surprises!

Let the charity of the brotherhood abide in you. And hospitality do not forget; for by this some, being not aware of it, have entertained angels.    - Hebrews 13:1-2

                      CASH AND CHECKS ONLY, PLEASE

The name "Kessing" comes from the family that originally built our solid German "castle" in the mid-1800s; lived , and operated numerous businesses within... including a general store, a tavern, a mortuary, and originally a blacksmith's shop. We'd like to keep this café in honor of the Kessings.

“Last comes the beverage of the Orient shore,
Mocha, far off, the fragrant berries bore.
Taste the dark fluid with a dainty lip,
Digestion waits on pleasure as you sip.”

--Pope Leo XII
